ABOUT HYSTERIA

HYSTERIA is a performance and installation in collaboration with Kate Enman and Laura Snow piece that debuted in the Ford Foundation Live Gallery at New York Live Arts on December 9 and 10, and virtually on December 11 and 12, continues my study of pop culture and its displacement of queer Black subjectivity.

Picking up where my 2018 performance, UGLY, left off, I resituate myself as a glamorous, extraterrestrial entity—both alien to the world and wholly consuming its pop cultural byproducts.

HYSTERIA marks the collapse of fiction into fact, tracking the subsequent inner turmoil, confusion, and mania that I set out to exorcise.
